Wilfred and Alexander Pereira of the Syndicate participatedMonday, Oct 16, 2006 Seva Rathna awards presented NEWS TODAY 'Though Indian medical standards are equal to those in US and Europe, there was need for India to improve it further', said national vice- president of Indian Medical Association M Balasubramanian.Addressing a gathering after receiving the 'Seva Rathna' award at a function organised by the PR Syndicate, an association of public relations persons, to felicitate four doctors in Chennai, M Balasubramanian said lack of communication between the doctors and patients' family was the main cause for the problems arising between them after a patient dies in the hospital. Speaking at the function, advocate K Ramu said the concept of public relations had undergone several changes in the last 20 years. Earlier, the profession was limited to the companies only. Receiving the award, Dr Tamizhiai Soundarajan stressed on communication between doctors and patients. Other awardees were chairman of Dr Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre Dr V Mohan and founder of Rigid Hospitals Private Ltd Dr J S Rajkumar.
